Would be good to have a techie page explaining what conversion factors were used and how CO2e rather than CO2 has been calc’d.

Think trend function is very useful and instructive. Mine has a big dip whenever I go away on holiday as all household stuff gets turned off. Would be good to be able to input holiday dates and show these on trend graphs. This would also reveal whether extra emissions due to holiday flights and/or car use outweigh savings from non-use of household energy.

And why not include public transport input option? Even a simple one size fits all would be better than nothing.

Thanks!

1) I do want to write a page that explains exactly how the maths is done, that’s definitely on the list already. I agree that a site such as this has to be accountable in its calculations :)

2) The new “note” function is aimed at the sort of this you mention here. You can add notes for when you leave on holiday and when you get back. These are then displayed on the line graph to show you quickly what happened when. See my profile for an example: http://www.carbondiet.org/profile/james

3) I’ve aimed so far at the things that I can really quantify well, like meter readings, fuel purchases, and soon flights. While I agree that public transport (and even more importantly, food and other consumption) add to your carbon footprint, I have yet to come up with a good way of estimating those impacts. I’m sure there are methodologies out there for doing that though, so hopefully I will be able to add them in later on. I could really do with an expert on board for that sort of thing :)

James, I think the gCRAG group carbon pie figures are being a bit generous to me. I think they are based on the last 90 days emissions. Should we be taking up to the last 365 days of emissions into account when calculating our annual averages?

Andy
This point has been covered in the ‘profile time period’ topic.

As I just posted in the other topic, this time period issue should be fixed in the latest update.
